Description

Schematic

     Processor not included.

The 1746 is a breadboard adapter for PIC processors in the 28 pin 6x6mm QFN package. The QFN signals are fanned out to a 100 mil pin pitch by 500 mil row spacing to fit into a standard solderless breadboard.  The pinout of the adapter is laid out the match the equivalent DIP component, i.e. pin 1 on the adapter is the same as pin 1 on the DIP part. Most PIC18 and quite a few PIC16 processors in the 28 pin 6x6mm QFN package will work on this adapter.

A Mini-B USB interface is included that provides an RS232 communication channel, level shifted to connect to PICs powered over their entire VDD range, from 1.2 to 5.5V.  USB-TXD = PIC-RXD is connected to RC7 and USB-RXD = PIC-TXD is connected to RC6.

A zero ohm jumper resistor footprint (R3) is available that connects the USB VBUS to the processor VDD allowing the processor (And breadboard if desired) to be directly powered from the USB interface. Note that some PICs may not be operated above 3.3V and should not be powered by VBUS (See notes 1-8).

On 1746s with the processor installed and as required by the processor (Note 11), a 10uF Vdd-Core capacitor (C7) is also installed.

For in circuit programming, the ICSP signals and power pins are connected to a 6 pin, 2mm pitch surface pad connector. A 2mm header can be soldered the board or a pogo programming adapter can be used.
